Jigna Vora: From Crime Reporter to Acquitted Journalist and Memoirist
Jigna Vora is a former Indian journalist who was wrongfully implicated in the 2011 murder of her colleague, investigative reporter Jyotirmoy Dey. She was accused of providing underworld don Chhota Rajan with information leading to Dey’s assassination. However, after a lengthy legal battle, Vora was acquitted by both the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court in 2018 and the Bombay High Court in 2019 due to lack of direct evidence linking her to the crime .

Following her acquittal, Vora authored a biographical memoir titled Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, published by Penguin India in September 2019. The book chronicles her experiences as a journalist and the seven years she spent undergoing trial . In 2023, the memoir was adapted into the Netflix series Scoop, bringing her story to a global audience.
In recent years, Vora has transitioned into tarot reading and astrology, establishing herself as an Ixchel healer. She also participated as a contestant in the Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 17 in 2023 .
